On February 28 a main step-down substation was put into operation at the 5th coke oven battery, that marked the completion of one of the most important phases of CO-5 construction. The initial design of the new substation was developed by the Tyazhpromelectroproekt Institute, and later it was significantly modified by the factory engineering design department. The final design was approved in 2002, after which it was implemented by contracting agencies and factory services. The main difficulty was that the facility was to be connected to the existing supply lines of the enterprise.
Altai-koks is the first company within the Altai customs zone, which has been granted the right for simplified customs clearance procedures. The permit issued by the Federal Customs Service covers import transactions. In particular: clearance of supplies for the sulphuric acid plant, this sulphuric acid is used for ammonium sulphate production, and also of equipment for coke oven operation. Altai-koks executed a total of 86 import declarations in 2005.
Construction costs for CO-5 system equalled 1.151 billion rubles for 11 months of 2005. 151 ìëí. ðóá. Construction and installation work was almost completed during the previous year: 95% of CO-5 system is ready for commissioning. Installed are: coke-screening line, including inside bulk coke storage and coke-screening station, quenchers, car dumper and the major part of conveyor galleries. At the end of 2005 pre-lighting activities and installation of edging hoist reversing machine were started at CO-5. Heat supply to all CO-5 facilities has been already provided, preparation for the gas supply to the ovens is taking place.

Altai-koks is getting ready for ISO 9001:2000 quality management certification at the end of 2006. New QMS development and implementation department appeared in the company structure in September, and currently the program for ISO QMS certification implementation at Altai-koks has been already approved.
The history of harvesting companies in the Altai territory knows many examples when good crops were lost due to a lack of machinery. New German combines purchased this year for Blinovsky farm made it possible to manage grain losses, which had been inevitable before.
