History
The project for the construction of the Altai coke plant is approved by XXIV Congress of the CPSU. An enormous amount of work is planned for. After all, the coke and chemical plant is a powerful complex composed of, besides the actual plant, co-generation station, external water supply units, sewerage and electricity (construction base). It also requires the reconstruction of Zarinskaya station approach railway lines, new station building, a line to the industrial site. Let alone the construction of the city itself - residential buildings, kindergartens, shops. And all this has to be built from scratch.
Coke and Chemical Plant is declared an All-Union Shock Komsomol Construction, which is personally supervised by Leonid Brezhnev, Secretary General of CPSU Central Committee. By the end of the 70s, up to five thousand people work at the same time in the construction of the plant. The town of Zarinsk, under construction at the same time with the plant, takes up to 15 thousand business travellers during the year.
The entire production chain of Altai-Koks is connected with railway tracks 84 kilometres long. Day and night the cars with raw materials, finished products replace each other - railway shop ensures factory transportation. Altai-Koks's share in the total volume of cargo transportation in Altai Territorial Administration of the West-Siberian railway is up to 40%.
Motor transport shop works on many fronts: from cleaning the territory and ensuring internal technological transportation to passenger transport and delivery to the plant of the building materials, equipment, spare parts from all over Russia.
Initially, each of the main production departments had their own electric service, and there was a team of external repairs, which served the entire plant. Later it was decided to merge all electric services of the plant under a single authority. Sites are created in the shops that on 1 August 1987 are combined in a specialized workshop for repair of coke and chemical electrical equipment.
The second technology team of Alexander Borovkov produces the first coke in the history of Altai coke plant from oven No. 35 that was the first to load. On the 10th of December the first batch of coke is sent to Kuzbass.
The main task of the shop is to maintain in operational condition the enterprise equipment. The repair service workers are directly involved throughout repair and overhaul, modernization of production facilities.
In the coal preparation shop incoming coal concentrate is crushed and sorted by grades. The workers of the shop mix different coal in required portions to obtain the desired composition of the charge. The quality of the coke depends on this.
Co-generation plant turns coke oven gas produced during coking into electricity. Altai-Koks has all kinds of energy resources of its own production. Besides, the plant supplies heat and electricity generated by the co-generation plant, to the entire population of the city of Zarinsk and successfully operates in the wholesale electricity and power market. The installed electric capacity of the station is 200 MW, the installed thermal capacity is 1321 Gcal/h.
The shop captures chemical by-products with subsequent processing and production of ammonium sulphate, benzene, coal tar, etc. The purified coke oven gas is used for heating coke oven batteries and for power plants. The chemicals that are released in the production of coke are transferred to deslurrying unit, to coal pitch processing unit, to benzene and sulphate department. The plant produces and sells chemical coking products used in the aluminium industry, in agriculture, in the production of industrial oils and additives, plastics, solvents, dyes, disinfectants.
The second coke battery starts producing coke. And the chemical capture shop gives the first Altai benzene, ammonium sulphate and coal tar.
It is the first plant in the history of coke production to put three coke batteries in operation in three years. In 1984, the first stage of dry coke quenching unit gets to be put into operation.
Completion of the second stage of the Altai coke plant.
On the basis of the Altai Coke Plant Open Joint Stock Company Altai-Koks is created.
A significant event in the life of Altai-Koks was the commissioning of the coal pitch processing unit with a capacity of 200 thousand tonnes per year. Consumers assess Altai pitch to have the highest quality.
Altai-Koks commissions a unique coke battery No.5. Currently, coke-oven battery No.5 in terms of technical and economic parameters is unparalleled in Russia. Two half-batteries are combined into one unit that contains 82 chambers. The capacity of coke battery No.5 is 1,140 thousand tonnes of 6%-moisture coke per year.
Having gained a solid support of its sole shareholder, Altai-Koks has started modernization and technical upgrade of its production facility. Approximately 80% of Altai-Koks products are supplied to Novolipetsk Steel. We constantly improve the quality of coke, and thus affecting the efficiency of the blast furnace process, and therefore, improve the competitiveness of the finished steel goods of Novolipetsk.
