New generation combines - for a new harvest
The history of harvesting companies in the Altai territory knows many examples when good crops were lost due to a lack of machinery. New German combines purchased this year for Blinovsky farm made it possible to manage grain losses, which had been inevitable before.
Apart from Blinovsky two more farms in the Altai territory made a decision in 2005 to renew their fleet with foreign-made machines . Many local farms prefer Russian machinery, as the cost of German machines is considered unreasonably high. However, as estimated by Blinovsky farmers the new machinery will pay back less than within two years even if higher quality fuel may be required.
MEGA KLAAS 350One MEGA-KLAAS-350 combine (German components, assembled in Krasnodar) replaces ten Eniseys (Blinovsky machinery fleet consisted of twelve operative Enisey combines). The total cost of two new German items was 11,140,000 rubles. New combines feature the following specifications: minimal grain losses (only 1%, while Eniseys loose up to 25%), and also easy maintenance.
Thanks to high quality fertilizers the harvest of this year met and for some crops surpassed all expectations. According to main farmers this machinery gives a real opportunity to increase crop acreage (crop acreage was 6,320 ha this year).
Valery Anatolievich Makulin, Blinovsky farm director: "Another two such combines – and we won't need the remaining twelve Eniseys".
- According to evaluations made by operators regarding the old machines, Enisey has insufficient engine power, and while this had been tolerated and grain losses had been accepted before, now with availability of Dominators, Siberians have got a taste for better equipment.
Compare the performance: the old Enisey harvested 16 centners per 1 ha, Dominator harvests 20 to 21 centners per 1 ha at the average (depending on the type and quality of crops). The harvesting rate of the new combine is dozens of times higher due to quick grain unloading – 8 cubic metres (container capacity) per 2 minutes, while the old combine unloaded 2.8 cubic metres per 10 minutes. As to maintenance, Dominators are 3 to 4 times cheaper in maintenance during the first 5 years, and fuel consumption is 5 times lower.
The cabin of the new combine is equipped with air conditioner, onboard computer and various control sensors. It is a pleasure for the operator to work on such machine, all operating variables are controlled from the onboard computer and the combine is simple to operate. Learning to use the new machinery took only about 2 hours. MEGA-KLAAS-350 does not need additional storage conditions, the only exception is that in winter new machines will be stored in hangars, while the old ones are stored outdoors.
